Saturday

Another very hot day. Just right for a bike ride. Breakfast first, bacon rolls and tea.

Bags packed, bikes ready for the off. A visit first to the Abbey grounds, for a photo of  the Abbey. Lesley limbers up on the outdoor excercise equipment ( good idea ).

By the time we get to the top of the first rise our leg muscles are hurting, 4 miles into the ride. Next turn Odda’s Chapel, all down hill. We visit the Chapel, before walking a short way to sit by the side of the River Severn for a cup of tea and a rest.
Odda's Chapel

Our thirst quenched we visit the Deerhurst Church to see the “Angel” carved in stone  high up on the side of the back of the church. The church reported to be the oldest Saxon Church in England, was once a very important place, governing the surrounding area of Gloucester and Tewkesbury.

The journey continues back towards Tewkesbury before turning right for Evesham. We cross the M5 twice heading then back to Tewkesbury. We sit by the side of the River  Severn again by Kings Locks for a cup of coffee.

Its just a short ride back to the camp site, we put out the sun loungers again to enjoy arelaxing afternoon, reading magazines and later a cream tea..
