Sunday

This is going to hurt.
The roads are busy as we set off, unfortunately the route is hilly. Low gear then and push down hard.

Our first destination is Bredon, 2.5 miles outside of Tewkesbury. A chance of a rest and a look at the “Tithe Barn” 60p, National trust members free.....

Thats us then, bonus. The barn was built in the 14th century of local Cotswold stone. The chimney cowling is unique, as is the wide, aisled interior that gives the barn the air of a medieval church

After our visit, its time for a coffee break. A bench in the church will do nicely. Lesley packed some malt loaf to eat with the coffee, good but sticks to your teeth something rotten.

Back on the road and three miles further on, I decide a more pleasant route would be to turn of the main road ( race track ) for a slow paced lane.....oops, didn’t check the contours. slow is right, hard is right.

Then out we pop onto the Evesham / Pershore road, hoorah! with a view of the Abbey. Lunch time,  down by the river

We try some sample tea bags we have been sent “Eagle!” tasted ok out of the little kettle. However its very hot, the mid day sun high above and so we decide to move on. The Abbey stands alone in a park surrounded by the town, Smaller than Tewkesbury Abbey was founded in 689AD by St. Oswald. The majority of the Norman building is 11th Century and is still in use today for worship and concerts.

Sadly we leave Pershore to cycle the 11 miles back to Tewkesbury,  oh and did I  mention the head wind and the sore behind.............  .
